My vote for Kentucky by Danny Mayer
by Anna Keller (editor)
Danny Mayer voted for Kentucky Party presidential candidate Jill Stein yesterday, and wrote about why at North of Center and Shatty Town!.
Danny compared the Kentucky Party to the Free Soilers, who spelled the death of the Whig Party and the birth of the Republicans, with their devotion to preventing the expansion of slavery.
Kentucky Party members should consider the parallels he's drawing. We've drawn lessons from the agricultural and labor Populists of the 1870s, but not, as far as I know, the Free Soilers.
Jill Stein got less than 1% of the popular vote in Kentucky, a similar percentage to what she got in other states where she was on the ballot. What that means for the Kentucky Party is we'll gather petition signatures to get our slate on the 2026 ballot. We're pretty good at it after getting ballot access for Jill Stein this year.
Petitioning is an organizing tactic, not only the means to get ballot access. Elections allow us to raise money and spend it, attract attention and direct it, and find each other. Now you found Danny. Go read his stuff.
